Phonics and Reading Schemes

The school now teaches phonics using Read Write Inc. This is used all the way through EYFS and Key Stage 1 with intervention programmes, such as Fresh Start implemented further up the school.

The teaching of spelling rules is planned for and delivered by KS1 and KS2 staff in line with the new National Curriculum.

KS2 reading Pro Scheme

The aim of this reading scheme is to guide Key Stage 2 children in choosing appropriate books for their reading ability. Children will complete an assessment in school to discover their level and will then be able to choose appropriate books from school. There is also an E-Library containing a wide range of E-Books too. Follow this link to Scholastic Reading Pro to find out more.
