Medium and Long Term Plans
With the aim of delivering a cross-curricular, creative curriculum, we plan our lessons around different topic areas each term. These plans give an overview of the topics to be covered by each year group.
Long term plans cover the whole academic year, while medium-term plans show areas of teaching and learning in a more detailed manner for each term:

Phonics and Reading Schemes
St Gilbert's teaches phonics using Read Write Inc. This is used all the way through EYFS and Key Stage 1 with intervention programmes, such as Fresh Start implemented further up the school.
The teaching of spelling rules is planned for and delivered by KS1 and KS2 staff in line with the new National Curriculum and supported by Oxford Owl and Read Write inc resources.

Paired Reading Intervention
Some of the children across school take part in interventions for Reading, including Paired Reading sessions. For more information on this intervention and to find out how parents/carers can also use this method at home to improve children's confidence, fluency and enjoyment of reading, please take a look at the presentation below.
