Welcome to our page.
We have provided wrap around care for the children of St Gilbert’s Church of England Primary School since 1997. From small beginnings, 12 children and 2 members of staff, we have now grown to accommodate 80 children per evening and 40 children in the morning, with 12 members of staff.
Our morning sessions run from 7.45 am until the start of the school day and from the end of school until 6.00 pm.
We also run a holiday club in all school holidays, with the exception of Christmas. Pricing for before and after school care, also pricing for the holiday club can be found in our brochure.
Our aim is to provide a safe, caring environment where the children can play with their friends and have fun. We offer child initiated and structured play, both indoor and outdoor.
Our staff all have safeguarding training and the majority of our staff are first aid qualified (paediatric and basic) and all are enhanced DBS checked.
Because of the large numbers, the children are divided into their year groups and are situated in different areas. EYFS, along with KS1, stay in the familiar area of their foundation stage classroom. Years 3 and 4 are in the Gilbert’s Gang mobile, while years 5 and 6 use one of the KS2 classrooms.
Within EYFS, we work closely on getting to know the children, each EYFS child is assigned a key worker.
We also work in conjunction with the school and your child’s class teacher. This allows us to continue their learning within our setting. The children’s art and wow moments are recorded, via pictures. There is also a planning book that sets out the activities and what the outcomes of the activities are. This and the photos are available for parents/carers to view at any time. Our EYFS lead will also provide parents/carers with an individual update on their child, to include photos.
We have numerous policies and procedures, for the safety and well-being of children and staff. Those listed below are the minimum set of policies explicitly required by Ofsted for Early Years settings from September 2025. We exceed this requirement by some margin. Our policies and procedures are available for parents/carers to view at any time.
